As far north as we can go

The minivan arrived at the hotel at 7 AM and after weighting it down with all our paraphernalia we drove the five hours to Mae Sai, the northern most city in Thailand. Across the border is Myanmar previously known as Burma. It is a typical bordertown with a lot of stuff that most people don't seem to buy. Of course we had to pose for the obligatory photo op under the sign.

The traffick coming into Thailand is, well, different.

One can only guess what cargo is so neatly covered.

I assume the DVD's are rear reflectors.

The streets are a hurricane of activity. People of all stripes grazing on the sights and sounds of the seemingly endless rows of booths. An interesting side note. We were talking to a couple at the motel where we spent the night in Chiang Mai. Their home is in the same town in England as where our trikes are made. Seven hours later and 150 miles away we happened to see them again in Mae Sai. Not impossible but highly unlikely.

Even the Buddhist Monks find an attraction.

It is hard to tell where this street mall ends and there several more just like it for the more energetic shoppers.

We set this spot as the place to start our trike trek and we are finally here. Tomorrow the first leg of 40 miles will take us to Chiang Rai.
