Hill Country

As we hit mile mile 32 we came to the town of Mae Chedi. We had energy to ride further but the hill country was ahead and the possibility of no sleeping facilities for another 15 miles. The sign for the Sympat Homestay was all we needed to ride the 300 meters off the main road and get a room for the night. The Homestay was nestled at the quiet edge of town with enough charm and amenities to make us feel pampered after a long ride.

The open air dinning area was a perfect place to log on and get connected. While Steven surfed I got a Thai massage. The masseuse didn't speak English but she knew a sore muscle when she found one and after an hour my aches were gone.

We were able to get a good night's sleep knowing our bikes were locked together and in plain view outside our window.

Our room rate of $15/ person included breakfast served at 7:00 but we needed to leave at dawn for a long day's ride and told the owner of our intentions. When we checked out the next morning the cook had juice, bananas, bottles of water and sticky rice waiting. Perfect fuel for the longest hardest ride so far.
